INTRODUCTION TO CLEANING THE COTTAGE

Cottage Cleaning Checklist




We know that you appreciated a clean cottage when you arrived and we would appreciate your consideration for the next guests. We also recognize that there may be the odd accidental breakage, especially dishes or glasses, but please let us know if anything has been lost or broken so we can replace it before our next guests arrive. Please follow the instructions given in the Pre-departure Cottage Cleaning Checklist note any breakages, faulty equipment or any items you would have like to have been provided,

COTTAGE CLEANING SERVICES $50 FOR 2 HOURS

A cleaning service cost $50 for 2 hours of cleaning is provided on an as available basis.  It must be pre-booked and pre-paid.
You are still expected to wash and dry all of the dishes you have used and to return them to their proper cupboards.

The cleaner will vacuum or sweep and mop/wash all of the floors.  She will wipe down the appliances, clean the bathroom and dust.
She will do this starting at 11am on your check out day.
If you feel you need more than 2 hours of cleaning  or if you wish to book to have the cleaning done while you are still occupying the cottage please contact me directly so I can confirm the time and availability.
Cleaning cannot be paid using a credit card.  Either cash or certified cheque or sufficient time for your personal cheque to clear is required.

INTERIOR CLEANING

Guest Pre-departure Cottage Cleaning Checklist




We know that you appreciated finding a clean cottage when you arrived and we would appreciate your consideration of the next guests. Therefore, prior to departure, please complete the following checklist; cleaning supplies are provided.



Interior of the Cottage:

□ Vacuum all carpeted areas

□ Sweep and wash (damp mop) all hard floor surfaces

□ Wash and dry and put all dishes away into the same  cupboards they came out of

□ Clean tub, shower, sinks and toilets (particular emphasis on the toilets please)

□ Dust all surfaces

□ Clean any smudges or fingerprints from windows and other glass surfaces

□ Make sure all kitchen appliances are switched off – i.e. stove top, oven etc.

□ Wipe off all countertops, kitchen tables and other appliances

□ Clean interiors of kitchen appliances – i.e. microwave, coffee filter etc.

□ Strip all used beds and place the blankets neatly folded on the foot of the bed.  Do not make beds.

□ Remove perishable food from fridge and freezer and wipe out

□ Check under couch cushions and under beds for food stuffs and your personal belongings

□ Remove all garbage from the Cottage on departure

□ Leave all cottage interior doors open

□ Turn hot water heater circut breaker off.   Set main cottage thermostat to off in summer and to 47 degrees farenheit in the fall/spring

□ Close and lock all windows and doors and return key to original location

□ Winter only - leave all under-sink cupboard doors open (bathrooms and kitchen)

□ Winter only – leave all toilet seats up

EXTERIOR

Exterior of the Cottage:


□ Wipe off all patio and deck furniture and return to original location if necessary.  Cover with tarp.

□ Place beige sun umbrella behind loveseat in cottage or put green umbrella in basement.
    Pull back the pergola awnings to stack the fabric so the wind does not catch it.

□ Place 6 patio chair cushions inside the Cottage behind TV Armoire

□ Clean and return PFDs, beach chairs, fire bowl etc to original location in basement

□ Sweep deck areas and entrances

□ Ensure BBQ grill is cleaned off, all valves are closed and cover replaced securely

□ Dispose of all  bottle tops from around the property

□ Ensure fire-pit is “dead out”  Empty firebowl of all ashes and wood remnants and take home with you.  Please do not trespass on the nearby farm.  Do not leave your ashes on the farmers' property.

□ Clean and put away any other games,  and  equipment

□ Take all garbage from the garbage cans with you.  There is a minimum $50 charge if you leave any garbage.
